I accidently stumbled across the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez, CA last year while traveling. Always a fan of Muir, I took time out from my trip to visit his homestead. It was a hotbed of photographic opportunities. I got lucky because the flowers in the planting beds surrounding the house were blooming. This shot was of one of the many lavender flowers peppering the grounds. Shot on a Nikon Z8 with a 28-400 zoom lens, it was a lot of fun but the WIND made the shot a challenge. I wanted to keep as much bokeh as I could so I had to be patient as the weather kept pushing the flower in and out of the depth of field. Oh, and it started raining. After some patience I finally got the shot.
