This photo was taken in northern Thailand, in a forest village inhabited by women of the Kayan ethnic group (also known as Padaung), a minority originally from Myanmar who also live here. This tradition, dating back to the founding of the tribe, consists of wearing brass rings around the neck to make it appear longer. These people support themselves by selling homemade textiles and local handicrafts.
