This image is titled Witness to Wonder. I set up here so that the dock would lead viewers' eyes into the scene, and having the grove of trees adding scale. A photographer entered my frame while I was trying to capture a time-lapse of the Aurora. I usually avoid including people in my landscape photos, but here, having the photographer in view seems to enhance the narrative. He’s not photographing—he looks as though he’s simply admiring the scene, reminding me that sometimes, it’s important to pause and appreciate what’s happening around you.
