From my ship somewhere in the Arctic pack ice North of Svalbard in summer 2025, I noticed a clump of fur sticking out of a wall of ice in the distance. I decided to take to the skies using a DJI Mavic 3 Pro and as I approached, the scene unfolded before my eyes: a polar bear fast asleep, nestled in a crack near a beautiful piece of blue ice. I made sure to stay high enough not to interrupt its sleep. I captured the moment and retreated, leaving behind a happily sleeping bear!

What a beautiful photo. The soft falloff of the ice into the water helps give an almost painterly feeling. Very well done

Thank you very much! The blue side of the image is actually blue ice, which I was so happy to find amongst the usual white drift ice.

Oh wow, that explains the softer falloff. What a great find!

Great moment, well seen and presented. Congratulations on this fine image Felix.

This is a winner to me. The composition is awesome. Love it.
