This image was created during a quiet moment of a wedding day, deep inside a forest just as the sun was breaking through the trees. I intentionally placed the couple directly against the backlight, letting the low, warm sunlight become the main storytelling element of the frame.
The photograph was taken with a Canon EOS R6 Mark II and the RF 28–70mm f/2 L USM, set to 29mm, f/2, 1/200 sec, ISO 200, in full manual mode. The biggest challenge was dynamic range — extremely bright highlights around the sun combined with very deep shadows in the forest. I exposed precisely for the highlights to preserve the glow of the light and allowed the shadows to fall naturally into darkness, creating a cinematic contrast and visual depth.
No artificial lighting was used. The entire scene is shaped purely by natural light, with the trees acting as natural cutters, sculpting the light and guiding the viewer’s eye directly to the couple. The veil was deliberately positioned to catch the backlight and extend the composition, adding movement and intimacy to the scene.
In post-production, I focused on color balance and contrast control. I deepened the shadows while protecting skin tones and gently warmed the highlights to enhance the golden-hour atmosphere. The goal was not realism, but emotion — transforming a real moment into a timeless, painterly scene driven entirely by light.
