This composite photograph was created from an aerial image of a basketball court in Kharkiv, captured before the war. Using a DJI Mini 2, I photographed the court from a strict vertical perspective to emphasize its geometry and color contrast. In post-production, I restructured the composition by swapping the opposing halves of the court, forming a perfect circular shape from the original rectangular layout.

The result transforms a familiar sports space into a bold graphic symbol. The red perimeter, blue interior, and white lines create a striking chromatic balance, while the players and their shadows introduce scale and movement within an otherwise controlled, symmetrical structure.

One of the main challenges was achieving precise alignment both in flight and in editing. The drone had to be positioned accurately to maintain clean geometry, and the compositing required careful symmetry matching to make the circle feel natural.

This image works exceptionally well as a large print. The saturated colors, sharp lines, and minimalist structure create immediate visual impact from a distance, while the human figures reveal subtle narrative detail up close.
