"Kindred Kit"

All standout wildlife photos require an element of luck, but this moment has to be one of my luckiest to date. I had spent numerous evenings silently waiting and hiding in hopes of improving on the photos I had previously captured of this female Red Fox, but I never expected to have the opportunity of photographing a fleeting tender moment between her and one of her three kits that were born this spring. The fact that I have been unsuccessful even trying to spot her babies since this evening makes the encounter that much more significant. Both the mother and father had been keeping a watchful eye on my presence and it was right as last of the golden hour light was fading that she felt comfortable enough to turn her attention to one of her kits and I fired off a quick burst of photos. I felt the expressions and poses in this frame captured the bond between the two of them the best.
