This was shot on film, many years ago. It is a quick portrait of my best friend, who passed in 2001. He was a journalist and a poet and had a truly marvelous and passionate singing voice.
He was disabled from his time in the army, and once a month, I would cash his check for him and we would go thrift shopping and to lunch. He would often entertain me in the car with renditions of classic songs.
This photo, I hope, captures the simplicity and yet the elegance of his soul.
It has been too long to remember the film and exposure details, nut I suspect it was Ilford.
