This is one of the photos from my favorite series, named "The Defiance" (of the faith), taken with friends for a local magazine Halloween edition. Priest is played by a very good friend of mine, also an excellent photographer, and we had a few models with painted hands (it's dark, but there are more than 2 black hands in the scene, lol). We got props from Amazon and Goodwill, and hired makeup artists for the models. One light setup, pretty simple, with some post processing done to emphasize the mood. Funny thing was during the prep for the shoot, and explaining to the friend what I want him to do, he said he will shave and "make himself presentable", to which I had to react with "hell no!" We needed the rough look, which shows a lot of character, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
