This image was made in Myanmar in 2016 with a Pentax K3 and a Pentax DA 1:2.8-4.0, 20 – 40mm zoom at 26mm, ISO 400. Post capture processing was with Lightroom and Photoshop. We were in a small airport convenience store/restaurant that was dimly lit on a hot, muggy day. The ambience caught my attention and the man lounging in the shadows to escape the muggy heat caught the essence. I was trying to convey that with an image, not just take a picture. Dynamic range was an obvious problem in the dim light with the bright window. The muted colors and shapes are balanced, and the arrested eye discovers meaningful detail in the shadows. All of us, including guides, got sick from the food.
