This image was captured in Arches national park in Utah. Fantastic place!
I got lucky on this one, and it was not planned at all. My plan was to capture this arch at sunset, but I was running late. I literally ran from the car park up the mountain to try to make it in time. It was my first visit so I hadnt anticipated to walk much (run) to get there. Half way up I realised I was too late, but I might aswell shoot it without the light. When I arried it was crowded with photographers and tourists that were packing up to leave. I stayed together with an elder couple (photographers), we got talking and she mentioned that she was inspired by David Black (american photographer, does lightpainting of landscapes++) and had just bought a massive brinkmann tourch to try lightpaining for the first time. I had a lot of experience with lightpainting so I helped guide her with settings etc. while her husband was instructed to "paint". That way my planned sunset shoot turned into someting much more unique and interesting in my mind. Usually good planning pays off, but sometimes you get super lucky and this was one of those lucky days.
In terms of editing I have done very little. Slight crop adjustment, a bit more contrast in the sky and brightend up the mountains a bit in the background.
