Hilarious Video Walks You Through a Video Editor's Daily Tasks In 7 Easy Steps

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a video editor? Well, look no further. The team at Lixi Studio created this informative, and flipping hysterical how to video, so that you can learn what it takes to edit film.

Ok, so all the video editors are wiping their tears from laughing so hard. I laughed even harder, wearing my ridiculous headphones, at the "You laugh way too loudly," having the office look at me like I was a psycho. I mean, this has to be the most "#relatable" video about video editing ever. All of these steps will ring true for editors, and I imagine most creatives.

By it's very nature, filmmaking is a collaborative process. Unlike photography, it's pretty difficult to shoot something by yourself without the help of a team. Every now and then, you end up including the camera operators who drop focus, or that token weird PA that no one remembers hiring. However, there is something so satisfying cleaning up the mess that is editing. Sitting in front of a computer for hours and hours, scrubbing through the same three minutes of footage to get that cut just perfectly lined up with the sound design; it's terrible for your eyes, but if you're an editor, it's an addictive process. You really do lose track of time, but then sometimes you realize only twelve minutes have past.

I can't tell you how many times Premiere has crashed on me after long days in the office, which is why I recommend a seven minute autosave. You'll be less likely to "curse the day you ever became involved with film." Can you think of other steps it takes to be a video editor? Leave your ideas in the comments below.

That got more inspirational than expected at the end. Funny video, worth a watch (and a favorite for me)!

Right? It made me happy, and then I laughed even harder at the end; they did an amazing job!

Excellent video :)

30+ years of working on a computer and it's as "automatic" as Cmd-Z and any time I pause for a second. On huge projects, also saved "versioning" of the edits... as in _edit-1, _edit-2, etc. Corrupted files used to be more prominent, but I still do it just in case I edit too far, too much... or just want to start over from a given point for client wishes that were not necessarily synced with my ideas.

oh yes, I'm always double saving hitting ctrl-s whenever I pause as well. And yes, that should be the eighth step "Save your files" like version1, version2, finalversion, okayreallyfinalversion, goddamnitFINALHERE hahaha

Ha ha funny but yet resourceful....
