Intrepid Camera Launches a New Large Format Shutter and Lens on Kickstarter

Intrepid Camera launched its latest Kickstarter campaign to introduce a brand-new large format electronic shutter compatible with Copal 0 lenses and a 150mm f/6.3 Cooke Triplet lens, giving photographers modern tools for large format cameras.

Intrepid Camera has spent 18 months developing an electronic shutter designed for use with all current large format cameras. This new shutter offers features such as easy-to-use digital controls, compatibility with Copal 0 size lenses, and exposure settings that make it simpler to shoot with film.

In addition to the shutter, Intrepid Camera will introduce a new large format lens, the 150mm f/6.3 Cooke Triplet. Designed to be lightweight and compact, this lens is described as being capable of producing sharp images even when shot wide open, with beautiful color rendering. With its ability to correct optical aberrations, it’s designed for both precise work and artistic flair, making it a versatile tool for large format photographers.

The campaign offers different options: customers can pledge for just the shutter, just the lens, or both together. Prices start at £159 for the lens, £289 for the shutter, and £429 for the full kit.

Intrepid has done a great deal for large format photography over the last decade. This new lens and shutter mechanism address the growing need for new, reliable tools for large format photographers. With the resurgence in film photography, the company believes that this project will help secure the future of large format by offering modern alternatives to current preloved equipment.

Intrepid has also stated that if this Kickstarter project is successful, they will continue to develop new lenses for large format cameras. Fortunately, Intrepid’s goal to raise £35,000 has already been surpassed, showing great demand for a new large format lens and shutter.
