Blackmagic Design today released Camera v1.9.3, a firmware update that adds histogram, audio meters and media time remaining indicators to the Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Pocket Cinema Camera. These features were also recently added to the Production Camera.
The updated firmware in v1.9.3 does the following:
- On the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, users can reveal the display by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and dismiss it by swiping down, just like on the Production Camera 4K. With a manual lens, the IRIS button will also toggle the display on or off.
- On the Pocket Cinema Camera, they have remapped the Up and Down button to reveal or hide the meters respectively. The Left and Right button will control the aperture with an active lens. With a manual lens, the IRIS button will also call up or dismiss the display.
- Blackmagic has also increased the number of White Balance and Shutter Angle options as well as fixed in-camera playback when previewing ProRes clips.
All I can say is hallelujah! Great news! These updates will make shooting with the Pocket Cinema Camera and the Cinema Camera a lot more pleasant. You can download the firmware update here.

Can you adjust the ISO without navigating through the menu? Still below the date+time? Do the settings change after turning off and on? Does it delete files within camera?
