Eliptical Galaxies, Farnsworth Canyon
I had been working in the deserts of Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. Driving from Torrey Utah to Moab I came across a directional sign, almost covered over by vegetation directing me to a slot canyon I had heard of but never seen. So, when you have the opportunity to take the "scenic bypass" road... do it. You'll never know till you do. It had been raining some and even got a light dusting of snow, but the sky had some patches of blue so I thought I would be okay. I had hiked into the canyon to the place where it begins to slot up, and I got a very light, beginnings of a rain shower. Slot canyons are not a place you want to be when there's a rainstorm, so I turned and beat feet out of the narrows of the canyon. Near the mouth I began seeing very interesting erosion patterns on the walls of the canyon, and I felt like I was in a safe position so I stopped to make a few photographs of these wall patterns. This one brought to mind the forces of the universe and THE force that holds everything together, Einstein posited that the actual binding force might be gravity, so this image reminded me of that. I used a Toyo 45A camera. 150mm Sinaron lens with a #61 Dark Green filter and Kodak T-Max 100 film, which I rated at ASA 50 and processed in my darkroom using Kodak Tmax RS developer.

Really fascinating to look at in closeup. Nice work, Nathan. As always, enjoying the commentary!
