Auto Show 2025

Last Sunday, the Collegeville Volunteer Fire Department held its annual Car Show. They had more than a hundred cars on display, and there were more than a thousand attendees. My beautiful assistant (my wife) had to work, so I was without a tripod and my usual complement of gear. Plus, it was very bright and so hot (90+ degrees Fahrenheit) that I only stayed for about an hour.

This isn't exactly the result I had in mind that day. I stood at one end of the show, leaning against the traffic control vehicle, and shot 55 frames. The hope was that the people around the cars would disappear like long-exposure waves around shoreline rocks. I loaded these as separate layers in Photoshop, used Auto-Align and Auto-Blend, cropped, and made minor adjustments to color and contrast.

Most of the other hundred or so frames taken that day are much more conventional street photography that I will not impose upon this experimental group.

You certainly captured the busyness of the day! You almost did achieve your goal. The people pretty much do disappear into the cars.

That's a pretty wild image Andrew.
I think I would personally crop out at least some of the static background to tell more of the story of chaos, but love the creativity.
