In keeping with: Shallow Depth of Field / Bokeh

None of these photos are portfolio ready, but rather snapshots and having fun with my camera.

In looking at the pictures your eye can't always pick the correct Aperture a photograph the photographer used...there is more optical science involved.

Thus, I discovered years ago that a shallow Depth of Field isn't always shot at f/1.4 and f/2.8.

On photos 1 through 6 take a guess as to what the Aperture was. All images taken with the Canon R5.

Setting will be in the comments section.

Great experiment, Dean. Thank you for posting all the apertures. I really enjoyed and appreciated this post.

Thanks for posting the info on these Dean.

Geeting desired DOF to separate subject from the background is always a challenge, helped somewhat by longer lenses. I would have guessed #1 & #2 had the smallest apertures.

Austin, Texas Blue Hour

Was down in Austin for a bit on a work trip. I've always heard how beautiful the skyline is from the river.

Was a little let down by the clouds, but what can I do!

Two from Tenerife

My two favourite images from my recent night time adventure in Tenerife. Foregrounds and skies were shot separately and blended in PS.

Any interest in this group?

Hi all, I was looking for such a group but see that although there are many members there hasn’t been a single post. Is there interest out there in getting this group going?
