Hi, first post to this group. I'd recently purchased a new camera and decided I wanted to get some test pics to get the general hang of it. I saw a bench in the pedestrian mall that I quite liked how the light bounced off, and this is the end result. This was the second attempt as after the first I noticed slight camera blur. Shame, because that one was more carefully composed, this one is very slightly askew. Mind you, I had to dodge an incoming tram to get the shot so...
Anyway, am reasonably happy with the outcome and look forward to experimenting more with mimimalism.
Fujifilm GFX50R, 50mm, f/8, 1/90, ISO200. Post processing in Capture One.
I really like this one. It's very cool.
Thanks Matthew.
I love the minimalistic approach to this PK - very striking!
Cheers!
Great shot. I particularly love how it seems to be just floating there.
It is resting on a block of concrete which faded into obscurity when I increased the black and shadows in post-processing. I kind of wish maybe that it had steel legs to also catch the light but we work with what we have, right?
So true.
Welcome! Glad to see you here. I love the abstract nature of this bench. I like images in this style too and am getting ready to post some 'dark' flowers.
I think this would benefit from more breathing room for the crop. I think, if the bench filled the lower half and the upper half was essentially negative space, it would make the bench feel less cramped.
This is nicely done! Dodge more trams and post more!!
Hi Ruth, yeah, I get what you are saying. I think that the reason for the expanse of dark at the bottom is that my brain is still telling me the base of the bench is there even though we can't see it. Also, in my other versions of this, I have a small logo at the bottom. Anyway, definitely planning on trying some more abstracty low-key shots as long as I can find the right subjects.
Just to be sure i didnt mess up my message (i shouldn't post at night when i cant sleep!) The bottom here is perfeact. It is the top the i think needs more space. I love the image through so either way....
