Engagement in the Kruger National Park

My husband and I got engaged in 2014 in the beautiful Kruger National Park in South Africa. I took this photo on a timer and tripod on a beautiful overcast morning. Because I recently have been watching a lot of editing tutorials, I decided to revisit this photo and apply the knowledge I have learned over that last 6 months. Luckily back then I shot everything in Raw as well.

Feedback welcome!

Can you maybe post the original photo with no editing? This photo seem to have to much color if it makes sense. ie, Vibrance bar shifted to aggressively in editing software. Cropping vertically will put the focus on you and the husband, here it seems that the background gets the attention

Hi, thank you for your feedback :) I tried the vertical crop and I like it! For print though I still prefer the landscape, maybe out of sentimentality because that view was so incredible and it just enhances the memory for me. I am exploring a more vibrant editing style but I will have a look at toning down and see where that goes.

If only a vertical crop was made in this photo(without playing a bit with the vibrance) then already the "vibrance" appearance is toned down due to the background being a smaller part of the photo. In the Landscape style photo, Try to mask and soften yourself as a couple. It almost appears to be a composite photo, due to the light on yourself as a couple and the background being in contrast. BTW, are you from South Africa, staying in Finland at the moment?

Yes I'm from Johannesburg and am now living in Finland with my family, my husband got work here :) I did expose the background separately because it was blown out and exposed us more, because we were underexposed. I then created masks and blended the two together. Will have a look at adjusting the vibrance, just worried it will look dull when I print it though as CMYK tends to subdue the colors. We will see! Thank you for your feedback.
