JJ Photography's picture

Jetty

This one was taken back in Feb this year! I was looking for somewhere to take some photographs as an amature photographer, when I accidently found Neil Hawkins Park, Joondalup WA. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Everywhere I turned there was something to snap at.
I had to contort myself somewhat to get this shot and was dodging seagulls also. I am extremely happy with this shot.

This by far is my favorite ♥

I commend you on your perseverance in finding the park. But I think a little patience taking the time to see the different viewpoints to this picture would have yielded a better picture. There is too much dark in the lower right quadrant throwing the balance of this off. My personal take , if it was my intention to get an unusual perspective on the pier would have been to frame it such that the pier ran from the upper right corner down to the lower left corner bringing in a balance of the dark water above and below and also giving a much more pleasing angle.

If you get the opportunity sometime try what I suggested on that ppier. But above all else be always cognizant of the balance in your photos.

Thanks Dudley for the feedback. I see what you are getting at ☺ I think I will try just that. When I took this shot back then, I had only just started using my camera and was just over excited at all the objects I could shoot. I wasn't really thinking at the time of contrasts and angles. But in retrospect, going back and taking this shot again with a little bit more knowledge now is great idea ✌✌
