This is an image I captured some time ago, but am just not able to get what I want from it. The image was taken as sunrise cast a wonderful glow above the morning fog and highlighted the peak of the mountain beyond.
I'd love to hear thoughts on this, what you like, don't like and what you feel could be done to make this image stronger.
Dear Alan, I think the image needs some further processing - at least in my taste. I have done some quick adjustments in ACR to make the image "pop" more. All the best Edgar
There may be some small things that I would differently have been done in the processing, but that does not significantly change anything in the general sense. The composition is good as the atmosphere. Nice piece Alan.
I think it's a pretty good image Alan.
Putting myself in your place, I think you were stuck with the problem of a too-bright sky, which weakens the atmosphere created in the mist below, and there's not much you could do about it - perhaps using a polariser to darken it, but that can look obvious, and the darkening is often uneven.
I personally prefer your relatively understated treatment. In fact I wonder about a desaturated, warmed version.Perhaps I'd have tried cutting out the sky altogether, and if possible incorporated more of that sinuous road at the bottom - just that and the misty trees. My edit feels as if it could do with more at the bottom.
Still an enjoyable image with a good composition.
