Yesterday I challenged myself to use only my Tamron 70-200 + teleconverter (https://amzn.to/2U1Yr8Z) on my little hike around my home. While it definitely made the trip lighter (less glass to carry around), it definitely was heavy on the hand :-)
It was fun though to look only on far away stuff - or flowers only for "macro" shots. Here's a bunch from yesterday.

Forgot to say - I didn't sense any delay in focusing or witnessed any failures that I can relate to the converter. The only events I was focus hunting were when I tried to take close-ups of flowers or butterflies, but it was partly because they kept moving and partly because I was too close. After all, this is not designed as a macro lens...
