I like this doe's half face. I was taking a bunch of shots of a long-eared owl that just weren't working. When we decided to head back, we turned around and this little lady was watching us.

Beautiful image, Ruth! You capture the feeling of the moment you describe very well. The deer's soft beauty is shown, with relatively little detail to inform us - somehow you just capture an essence. I like your composition with all that shadow, too.
