Emile Husson's picture

Edge of the Storm

I love dramatic clouds on the edge of a storm. I shot this image looking East on the south shore of the Chesapeake Bay while the storm front was approaching from behind me. For this shot I used a Nikon D850 with a Sigma 14-24mm art lens at 14mm, with some basic touch up in Lightroom.

great clouds i miss the bay i grew up on it now im land locked in PA...it sucks.
Next time you try this get up close on those dunes and get the grass up close and personal it makes for a nice foreground

Spring in this area is amazing for the way the storms roll through. I'm still waiting to get a good shelf cloud structure with this lens, and as soon as I do, I'll be posting it.

Please do!!!

A striking image, Emile. Love that sky! I think the foreground sets it off well, but Joseph's suggestion has merit, too.

Thanks to both of you! I have more foreground, so I’ll try it.

Great picture! I love how wide angles stretch the sky!

Hi Emile, contrast of Land and sky is appealing.

Hi Emile - this is lovely! The light in the clouds is wonderful. I love the layers of both color and texture. Beautiful!

Thank you! I was excited to see so much layering in the clouds, all the way through to a little slice of blue sky.
