What are we looking for in mono shots..thought welcome.

I took this shot as a throw away, after some reeds reflecting in the pond, the more I worked on it, the more I liked it - now starting to wonder what we shoot for.

I prefer the challenge of B&W photography. I want to tell a story without the crutch of color to elicit emotion from the viewer. Too often people will see only their favorite color in an image and neglect the other colors to the detriment of the whole story. And I dislike "selective color" even more. This is a massive workaround for someone who isn't confident their B&W image will work, so they jazz it up with a single red rose or green leaf. Use the classic facets of a photograph (light, focus, composition) to highlight the subject instead of color.

Wow, really simple composition, and a really wonderful photo.

Mate this is awesome!
