Why would you crop the top of the driftwood?? PLEASE tell me you have another version with the whole tree visible.

I didn't crop it, it was shot this way. I shot this a little over 2 years ago before I got my wide angle lens. I think I was trying to get closer in on the shell and thus couldn't get the driftwood in the frame. I do have this however. I may have to revisit it because I like my editing style better with the first one. ( I was going through some old photos during a rainy weekend this past weekend).

This is a MUCH stronger composition. If I were you, I would process this one and forget the other.

Yeah I'm definitely going to have to re-edit this one.

And I think it would make a great candidate for B&W conversion, especially if you're not able to control the blooming around the sun. Hell, it's halfway to a monotone already.

I think I actually have a black and white version somewhere.

And good on you for not deleting the second version. I keep every photo I make (and that's why I have about 10 terabytes of storage ... and even that feels tight), but it's worth it to be able to go back and pick out images that I didn't think much of when shot—when looking back after some time away, I think I might be able to make something of them.

I don't delete any of my RAW files for the same reason. I have multiple times been going through old photos and found some good ones that for what ever reason I never did anything with the first time around. Some of them have turned out to be some of my better photos haha. I've also gotten much better at editing my photos over the years and it's nice to go back and even revisit some that I did edit in the past with my new "skills/style".

Exactly!
