An excellent moody image is extremely achieve and I think this is getting there.
Only suggestion is to minimise crushed blacks and bring down the centre exposure by a touch to balance.

Do painters worry about crushed blacks? (Just kidding, Danny!) Check the work of Yucel Basoglu. He doesn't seem to mind a crushed black or two, but I think you might like his (monochrome) work. Just discovered it tonight, and I'm blown away. BTW love your work too, Danny. No, I'm only saying that cos you're a local. ;-)
Go back to painting, Joseph... no, actually your work was good from the beginning, when it tended to look like paintings rather than photography. It's still the case to a degree; your signature "look" doesn't shout "Look at all the crisp detail!", the apparent obsession of many. Much as I LIKE crisp detail (!), your work has a special and distinctive appeal for me. And this image is one of your best. I think you're getting more refined, without your images looking overworked. This one just looks natural and beautiful - I love that sweep of the water out to the left and back - and just makes me want to be there. And... is that some crisp detail I see?
no Scott your doing just fine i just have an overwhelmingly addictive personality so if i get on something everything else goes out the window and i obsess over getting to a certain quality it's a good and bad trait to have i think my wife is about to throw me out lol

Wow. I also started about a year ago, trying to progress from snap shots to beautiful photography, but clearly I am lagging. Good job, Joseph!
