Landscape photography takes a combination of technical skills, creative vision, understanding of nature, and often, just a bit of luck in order to create successful images. If you would like to improve your work, check out this excellent video tutorial that features an experienced landscape photographer discussing five essential skills you need to have to reach your full potential.
Coming to you from Nigel Danson, this awesome video tutorial discusses five important skills every landscape photographer should have. One that I think is particularly crucial is learning to plan ahead. There is certainly nothing wrong with heading out for a walk with your camera without a specific plan in place. However, if you are looking to really create your best work, you need to take into account things like the weather and the sun's position in the sky. Because we do not get control over the conditions or the light like just about any other genre, we have to be prepared to make images the current environment is conducive to or wait for the right moment if we have a very specific shot in mind. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Danson.
