8 Steps to Creating a Landscape Photo

Landscape photography takes the confluence of a variety of factors: technical skill, creative vision, time management, ability to predict conditions, and often, just a little bit of luck. If you would like to get your landscape photography on the right track, check out this fantastic video tutorial that will show you an eight-step process to creating a compelling image.

Coming to you from Christian Irmler - Landscape Photography, this awesome video tutorial will show you an eight-step process for creating a landscape image. If I had to give a new landscape photographer a piece of advice, it would be to not fall into the trap of only shooting with wide angle lenses. Consider bringing along something like a 70-200mm lens. No doubt, a wide angle lens is useful for a lot of scenes, but on the other hand, a longer zoom can help you simplify overly busy frames and isolate individual interesting elements across the scene. Both sets of focal lengths have their place in the genre. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Irmler.
