Check Out This Incredible Timelapse Footage Of Washington DC

I "met" Dan Dawley on craiglist over 5 years ago when Patrick and I were looking for an animator for our brand new website idea (Fstoppers). At the time, he was just getting into animation and none of us knew that Dan would become one of the top motion graphics animators in the country. Now, he's getting into video.

For a personal project Dan decided to film his city, which happened to be Washington D.C. Using a 5d MKIIICanon 24-105mm, Rokinon 14mm, Rokinon 24mm, and a tripod he was able to create one of the most unique timelapse videos of D.C. that I have ever seen.

Keep in mind that Dan doesn't shoot video or take pictures for a living. He has become one of the top animators in the industry today and we just happy that he still had time to create our latest video bumper. Check out his reel below and you'll see Fstoppers' appearance around 1:06.

Would be nice to know what tripod solution Dan used to get the moving effects.

Wow, what inspiring work. Thanks for posting.

There are some really cool hyperlapses in this one! Adding that element of movement to the hyperlapse really pays off. I also really like the long exposure shots where people are partially exposed. It looks like ghosts are just popping around. Solid timelapse!
