How to Find the Best Landscape Photography Locations

Part of becoming a successful landscape photographer is knowing how to find worthwhile locations to take your camera to. And while learning settings and editing are pretty well codified, location scouting can be a bit more difficult to master. This great video tutorial will show you a professional landscape photographer's thought process in choosing locations and how you can find those golden spots for compelling images.

Coming to you from Dave Morrow, this excellent video tutorial details how to approach finding worthwhile landscape photography locations. If you are really serious about landscape photography, one thing you will want to do is work on developing some basic meteorology skills. Landscape work is so dependent on the weather, not just for making your job easier or harder, but also for knowing what kind of images you will likely be able to make when you actually arrive at a location, and those conditions can make for vastly different final products. You don't need to be a meteorologist, but understanding how to read forecasts, how to predict fog, etc. will make a big difference in your ability to plan ahead. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Morrow.
