I had been camping in Montana for a few days before going over the mountain to Condon where I would teach a class about the use of photographic chemicals, the process of processing film and printing the negatives. It was very cold at night and rain mixed with snow, but I was very snug in my tent and cold weather sleeping bag. I when I awakened this particular morning there was a coating of ice on the tent that jingled like little bells when it broke off as I poked at it from the inside. I got dressed quickly, as you would imagine and got to my truck to turn it on with the heater, which I was grateful for. This basin and falls was just down the mountain from me. When I arrived there was a bridge that allowed me to get almost up to the face of the falls. As I was walking out I turned around and there was a storm moving in, over and around the mountain seen in the distance. I quickly slipped my backpack off and set up my camera before the strong rain got to me. I used a Toyo 45a camera, a #21 Dark Orange filter on a 210mm Sironar-S lens with Kodak T-Max 100 film.
I was back in the same location a year later hoping to do some more work of the falls, however there was a huge flood shortly after I left and it washed the bridge out. Unfortunately I didn't see any bears, which are the highlight of any trip to this area.
