I had been on the Norris Glacier Before, but the pilot would only stay on it for 30 minutes. At that time the only camera I had was a 4x5 Toyo. I was able to make only one frame before I had the pilot nagging me to get back on board, or be left! Needless to say, I packed up quickly and boarded the helicopter. On this instance we had two hours on top of the Meade Glacier to explore, though there are numerous crevasses, so caution had to be exercised. Also, this time I had a digital camera so I was able to be much more productive. This huge boulder seemed to be floating on this pool of absolutely crystalline water. The pools look shallow, however there was a child on the glacier at the same time and while his parents weren't being attentive he slipped into one of these and was drenched, up to his shoulders, in water at 33 degrees. That made for a lot of excitement for a couple of minutes. BTW, the water in these glacial pools is actually this bright cyan color since they provide a lens into the inner parts of the glacier. I have seen glacial ice that was almost navy blue.
