I got up early to catch the sunrise at Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley. Much to my surprise, the parking lot was full....ugh. I quickly realized I'd have to hoof it farther away from the ants of people climbing the dunes if I wanted to capture unmarked territory.
I ditched my Berks and navigated the cool sand dunes. After the sun rose, the tripod and camera bag were left behind while I explored the vast opportunity of light, shadows and textures.
In post, I decided some of the photos looked best in B&W. I liked the smooth curves and texture of the sand dune separated by the infinity sign shadow to sunlit sand dunes and the mountains touching the sky.
