Winter Wonderland in Zion National Park

70mm · f/13 · 1/160 · ISO 2000

Patience paid off. After watching traffic cams all day, waiting for snow accumulation on the ground, I headed up to Zion. The falls were flowing, the sky had started to open up and there were swirls of low-hanging clouds.

Ironically, my camera was still set up for B&W, which I had forgotten about. I ended up shooting in PP1 on my SonyA1, but was wondering why everything seemed a bit "off." In post, this image worked so much better as B&W. I was too rushed to get out the tripod so I cranked up the ISO. I think it was the right choice, because a longer exposure wouldn't have elicited as much detail in the clouds. Is there noise...yep, but I didn't want to ruin it with de-noise.
