On my way home on Winter Solstice evening, I noticed the phenomenon known as Rayleigh Scattering which causes fiery sunsets. It was huge in our area last night. Many people will just photograph the clouds. As I drove, I looked for something to place in the foreground to create a more interesting rendering. As I passed a familiar tree, I decided to shoot an image. Typically, I avoid sunsets because, well, there is rarely anything distinct. I made an exception in this case because the falling sun created a particularly fiery atmosphere just beyond the tree.
Ed, very interesting image! I've never heard of "Rayleigh Scattering"before, I'll have to research it more.
Happy Winter Solstice :) I'm ready for more daylight hours, except the return of daylight saving time ... I prefer the light earlier in the morning the way it's meant to be!
