Osthafenbrücke at Blue Hour

14 · f/16 · 50 · ISO 100

This photograph captures the impressive atmosphere of blue hour at the new Osthafenbrücke in Frankfurt am Main – a striking architectural highlight of the city. Taken shortly after its opening, the image shows the structure's perfect symmetry: the elegantly curved steel construction spans powerfully over the roadway, while the delicate cables, like a precise network of lines, draw the eye downwards.

The long exposure adds further dynamism to the scene. The light trails from passing vehicles create a captivating contrast to the serene, almost majestic architecture. At the same time, the deep blue sky provides a clear, intense color effect that impressively highlights the bridge's structure.

Created with a Panasonic GX80 and the Lumix G Vario 14-45 kit lens, and through the strategic use of a neutral density filter, this image combines technical precision with artistic ambition. The result is an expressive image that impressively combines movement and stillness, technology and aesthetics – a real eye-catcher for lovers of modern architecture and urban photography.

Norbert,
Beautiful picture. Love the blue hour and the light trails. This bridge reminds me of a bridge that was recently constructed in Edmonton, AB called the Walterdale Bridge.

Hi Deon,
Thank you so much for your kind comment and the interesting link. The design of the Walterdale Bridge in Edmonton is indeed very reminiscent of the new Osthafen Bridge in Frankfurt. While the Walterdale Bridge is longer, it seems to me as much more striking and overall significantly more monumental than the bridge in Frankfurt.
