Great Egret, Lake Mattamuskeet

While exploring the National Wildlife Reserve at Lake Mattamuskeet NC, I saw this egret out in the distance perched on a stump. This is a classic egret pose. It's always nice to see these beautiful birds who are very skittish around humans. Finding them in low, soft evening light makes for interesting images. There was a lot of insects and debris in the water which influenced my decision to express it as a black and white.
