Sunrise Spitzkoppen Namibia

Sunrises and sunsets are subjects I tend to avoid. Why? It's probably the #1 subject taken on by landscape photographers. There are so many, and social media has pretty well created a prescription for what they should embody. There seems little that can be added to the existing body of work. Nevertheless, I was in Namibia in June, and despite the warm bed and freezing temperature outside, I decided to venture out before dawn. This one interested me because it doesn't have all of the elements of a "pretty picture". It's misty and slightly foggy. It's what you find in a rocky, desert, "prairie-like", misty, foggy like morning landscape. No snow capped mountains or long exposure stream in the foreground. Just dull prairie amid the dawn. I half expected to see Matt Dillon out tracking a cattle rustler.
