Musk-ox (Ovibos muschatus)

A lone musk ox stands on the tundra, its thick underwool qiviut protecting it from the biting Arctic wind. I knelt low in the rust colored dwarf shrubs, keeping my distance to avoid disturbing its graze. The distant, snow covered mass of the mountain rose sharply against the overcast sky. I adjusted my focal point to capture the texture of its dark coat against the pale, icy backdrop, tracking its slow movement across the subarctic autumn landscape.
