Full Frame / *“Imagination” *required ...

- opened minded helpful, , this is a think piece.

Yes this is a blank frame or an empty or open canvas to an artist. As an artist photographers need to relate/interpret what we are experiencing in our world with mind, body and soul within this medium to present our vision with others if not the world.

Some of the hardest lessons we have to learn are to relearn them or as James Douglas Morrison poetically put it “Learn to forget” Growing up on an island I have heard Captains looking to hire help would rather hire people who have no boating experience (other than can you swim!). It’s not a matter of right or wrong but each captain has their way of doing things and on their boat that just the way things are. They would rather teach someone their way rather than reteach someone. Learn to forget not as easy as you’d think … listen to Soul Kitchen / The Doors.

When I head out with a camera(s), analog, digital, this is what I head-out with an empty canvas, an open mind, on preconceptions, no revisualization until I find what I was meant to at the moment, light, subject, space and time all come together and I can translate the experience to film or sensor to the best of my ability. You cannot pre-visualize what you haven’t seen yet.
