I was out in Arizona teaching a class for the Arizona-Sonora Institute. The afternoon before the workshop began I was out in the area scouting locations for the class field sessions when I came to this spot. The petroglyphs on the rocks were very interesting, and there were many in the general area. I noticed that a huge storm front was moving up very rapidly from the south which added to the interest. Just as I finished the second exposure of this structure a lightning strike close by on my right motivated me to beat feet off the hill and get back to my truck. Moments later there was a deluge so strong that I couldn't see the end of the hood of my Ford Bronco, which is one of the older, full sized trucks. The wind was so intense that my truck was literally rocked side to side. The next evening this same storm front brought a tornado to my city and the funnel came within 1/4 mile of my home. Houses less than a block away were damaged and full grown trees pulled out of the ground, and yet none of my 12 Pecan trees had even a broken branch. I used a Toyo 45A camera, a 47mm XL Schneider lens and a #21 light red filter. Kodak T-Max 100 film.
