One Hour of Eye Retouching in Seven Minutes

When asking people what they hate retouching the most, usually the answer is anything hair related. It requires a tremendous amount of precision and a lot of time. Something retoucher Pratik Naik seems to have, at least according to this video in which he fixes eyelashes to perfection while keeping them natural looking. Have you ever wondered how high-end retouchers achieve such result? Then you should definitely watch this time-lapse.

Naik is known for his work as a fashion and beauty retoucher, but he’s also created quite a lot of educative content such as his series of videos named "Retouching in Motion.” While the speed retouching clips are not the best way to learn for beginners, more advanced retouchers will appreciate looking at how someone else works. It’s a fantastic opportunity to have a peek at someone else’s workflow and see how we could possibly improve our own. Also, contrary to what many people seem to believe about beauty retouching, it isn’t about magical method kept secret by an imaginary guild. It’s all about precision and patience, and the video above is proof of that.

This time-lapse concentrates solely on retouching eyelashes. The picture was shot by Jenn Collins who thought the image was only good for the trash. But Naik took it as a challenge to prove her wrong, and the result is what you can see above: one hour of work condensed into a seven-minute video.

What do you think of speed retouching videos? Is it something that helps you learn new techniques? Or is it just eye candy?

That's some real dedication, taking the excess mascara off of the lower eyelashes. Just another reason this guy is at the top.

The Twizzler!!!
