As you probably know, much of the epic imagery in "Game of Thrones" is computer-generated. It's a monumental task, and this video from Rising Sun Pictures, the visual effects company responsible for that amazing imagery, really puts into perspective the amount of work and imagination required to pull off such a feat.
First off, a lot of the season finale appears in this video, so consider this your spoiler alert. In season six, the show presented the new visual effects team with some monumental tasks: expanding and enhancing existing architecture and footage via computer-generated imagery to produce King's Landing and the Great Sept of Baelor and then burning them down. It's a remarkable achievement, and seeing it all come together from the start really puts into perspective the massive amount of time and effort that goes into something of this scale. It's not the first time we've been blown away by the production quality of "Game of Thrones," and with the seventh season in the works, I don't imagine it will be the last time either. For me, it really highlights the idea that we're in the golden age of television, as storytelling and production quality match and often exceed that of movies.
