Tiny Drone Collaboration With Droneworks and Casey Neistat

Building an obsession with tiny drones over the past few months, it makes me so happy to see other people getting creative and modifying them to fly "better" cameras. Droneworks went to New York to put together another video with Casey Neistat, only this time with a much smaller drone than they had been using in the past.

Just recently, I built my first tiny drone ever. Starting with the Blade Inductrix FPV, I upgraded my motors and frame for a different feel to the flight. With this drone, I have been racing around the house, trying out some obstacles, and wondering how much more could actually be done with these little things. I have also been looking into filming with them in more professional situations, however, I do not think the quality is where it needs to be for that which is why I am so happy to see Droneworks' Justin Oakes say screw it and make his own.

Oakes is currently flying the Torrent 110 from Blade. This is a slightly bigger drone than the Inductrix with more room to create a custom build. After finding a way to mount it, he had to tear apart a GoPro to drop the weight of the camera and mount it to the drone without too much extra weight so it could actually be flown. If you are thinking about doing something like this, you do have to know drones and cameras well but I see good room for potential with something like this. For more about the build, I will include a video about how the hummingbird was made.

Curious to know what you think of the tiny drone idea? Do you think this will become another style of filming? For more about Droneworks, check out their YouTube channel.

I am a huge nerd when it comes to drones and have been flying for over 4 years. I enjoy doing aerial photography as my personal work but shoot tons of video for work as well. I am a part of Simply Visual Productions and Simply Sounds, working my way into an industry I couldn't be happier to be a part of.
