Inspired by a video of six photographers shooting the same model, Photographers Jessica Kobeissi, Irene Rudnyk, and Ruby James came together to collaborated on their own version of the challenge. Each photographer got the opportunity to choose a location and an outfit for the model before taking five minutes to get their shot.
This challenge forced each photographer out of their comfort zones, resulting in a fun and creative experience, evidence that limitations really do breed creativity and that we all should be pushing ourselves to try new things. Their first challenge video was such a success that it had fans asking for more. So, with the addition of fellow shooter Derrick Freske, they decided to make a second installment. Armed with similar gear but different aesthetics, the crew took to the streets once again and turned out some pretty keen grabs:
The gear used:
Canon EOS 5D Mark III Camera
Canon EOS 5D Mark II Camera
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens
Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Lens
Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens
Nikon D750 DSLR Camera
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G Lens
So, who do you think did best in each of these scenarios? Leave your thoughts and votes below.
Despite my distaste for competition within creative endeavors, I really enjoyed this video. As simple as it sounds... seeing other people create inspires
Competition is always a positive.
I have really been impressed with both Jessica Kobeiss & Irene Rudnyk. Though both have very similar styles which remind me to Emily Soto but note as fantasy like in the post processing.
I LOVED that store with the Balloons out front. I loved even more how universal they all agreed how much better the image would have been if not shot in such flat light
Funny how the two photographers' images I liked the best at the first location were my least favorite in the second. Competition amongst friends is fun and pushes you to do better things. Fun video!
4 photographers with the same aesthetic, no difference in style or technique. Welcome to modern photography, where everyone is interchangeable.
