Sony's Humorous Ad Reimagines Cameras As People

Thanks to Sony's latest attempt at recapturing some of the DSLR market, in favor of their feature rich compact digital cameras, I'll never look at my Canon 5D Mark III the same again. Watch as an angry, over opinionated DSLR, muscles its way through a leisurely photo-walk, only to be outdone by a happy and helpful Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV.

As absurd as this ad is, it totally tickled me and does make a good point. I far too often see tourist roaming the streets of New York City while pointing their DSLRs here and there with no understanding of how to take full advantage of them. I honestly think, in a lot of cases, people would be better off with a powerful little point and shoot or even the latest iPhone. I personally spent years palling around with my heavy pro bodies before finally picking up a care-free little camera. And now that I'm more than a little creeped out from envisioning my 5D Mark III as a burly, puffed up dude in a tank top, I think I'll start spending a little more quality time with my Fujifilm X100T. Check out Sony's ad for a chuckle and while we are anthropomorphizing cameras let's run through the list of popular cameras. Who do you think best resembles your camera (think notable actors)? As always, leave your comments below.

In the mean time I'm going to liken my Fujifilm X100T to Veronica Lake.

The argument of DSLR versus Compact/Mirrorles is very invalid and pointless to me.
Why do people need to compare and find out which camera form factor is better? Each and every camera has it's strengths and weaknesses. DSLRs offer a wider variety of lenses. Compacts are good for on-the-go shoots or lightweight gear should be considered. Mediun format are mostly for commercial shoots where you need superb detail and resolution. And you get the idea.

I still believe that even though camera technology is improving day by day. It's not that near yet where different camera form factors will collide and trample each other.

its a Sony, they forgot to add at the end 'product lined dumped after two years, lens mount changed on a whim, technical support discontinued, tough luck'
