A Beginner's Guide to Layers and Masking in Photoshop

When you are new to Photoshop, some of the first things you should learn about are layers and masking. Now is an excellent time to work on your editing skills, and this fantastic video will get you up and running on how layers and masking work and what they are useful for.

Coming to you from Anthony Morganti, this great video will introduce you to layers and masking and show you how to use them for editing photos. Layers and masks are two of the most fundamental tools in Photoshop, and you will likely use them in almost every image you work on in the application. You can think of layers as different components of a piece of work that come together to create the full image; separating out these components allows you to work on them without affecting the others. Masks allow you to selectively show and hide different areas of layers, whether they are elements of the image or adjustments to it, allowing you to localize edits. Both are tremendously useful tools that you will use constantly. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
