Five Lesser Known Tips for Enhancing Images Using Photoshop

Photoshop is a tremendously complex program with all sorts of hidden features and techniques. This excellent video features five tips for enhancing images using some techniques you might not have seen before.

Coming to you from James Quantz Jr, this great video features five lesser-known techniques for enhancing your images using Photoshop. A lot of these are fantastic ways to quickly and effectively add emphasis to different areas or to stylize an image. In the first tip in which Quantz uses a white brush to add some highlights, notice how the brush he is using is very soft. This ensures that the transition from the highlighted portions to the normal areas are smooth and do not stick out.

As with any sort of technique that changes highlights, contrast, texture, clarity, etc., it is important not to go overboard, as this can make the results rather garish and tacky. I like to zoom out a lot when I am editing just to evaluate the overall look and to step away and come back after a few minutes before the final export. I find having a fresh pair of eyes helps a lot. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Quantz.
