How to Shoot in Manual Mode in 10 Minutes

If you've just bought your first camera or have shot on your camera for a while but want to get off automatic modes, you can move to full manual mode in just 10 minutes.

Coming to you from Hyun Ralph Jeong, this tutorial takes you through the basic steps you'll have to master in order to enter into manual mode life on your camera. The tutorial gives a good introduction to the golden triangle, including aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, the three building blocks of a good exposure.

This video tutorial is handy for those who find it hard to visualize what each parameter does and smoothly transitions between settings demonstrating exactly how each aspect of manual mode works. Hyun's on-screen animations move while the settings are changed on camera, which helps demonstrate what's going on to the viewers.

Overall, you'll learn the basics of how to adjust aperture, shutter speed, and ISO accordingly to get good exposures on either static or moving subjects. Hyun gives good stills examples of how you can utilize certain settings in order to achieve good results, and although walking you through the basics on a Fujifilm X-T3, you can follow along on any kind of camera so long as you have a manual mode.

10 minutes to put your camera in manual mode, you would have missed the shot by then!

:D

No time at all for me...I keep it in Manual mode :P

You think? :)

LoL...Must be a Sony or Fuji :P

Haha I would agree but having both Nikon and Fuji I can state with confidence that the Fuji is 100% easier to set up a shot with the numbered dials

Fuji... yum yum. The more buttons, knobs and flashing lights the better.

and two seconds to get it out of manual mode.

M. Done.

Not done. Shutter speed, Aperture, and ISO ain't gonna set themselves. :P
